The Food and Drug Administration Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research is seeking a motivated individual to join The Division of Bacterial, Parasitic & Allergenic Products Laboratory of Bacterial Polysaccharides Vaccine Structure Group. The successful candidate will work with an experienced research team to investigate the structural and biochemical basis for carbohydrate dependent disease and the development of mass spectrometry based analytical platforms for the study of glycoconjugate antigens and related compounds.
This position requires a Ph. D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field. A background in mass spectrometry is required. Experience in carbohydrate mass spectrometry is a plus. Experience in viral and/or bacterial pathogenesis is also a plus. The laboratory’s research crosses the boundaries between analytical chemistry, structural biology, biochemistry and microbiology. The successful candidate will have an established publication record in respected journals and demonstrated capacity to work independently. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to work in a team environment are required.
